At the recent Procemin-Geomet 2025 conference, Nathalie Jamett, senior researcher at SMI-ICE-Chile, was interviewed by the specialized media outlet Reporte Minero y Energético, about the decisive role that water management plays in the efficiency of mineral processing and the challenges facing this industry in a context of growing demand for minerals.

“Chile has one of the highest water stress levels in the world, and the projections are not encouraging,” explained Dr. Nathalie Jamett. “In areas with water scarcity, such as northern Chile, it is important to properly manage this resource.”

In this interview with Javiera Pizzoleo, Nathalie highlighted the work being done by SMI-ICE-Chile in conjunction with The University of Queensland to find solutions for better management and quality of this critical resource for mining in Chile and globally.
