Coinciding with the opening of the ACADES 2026 Congress—where water challenges will take centre stage—our Senior Researcher Nathalie Jamett has published an insightful column in Revista Minería Chilena, highlighting the need to transition towards shared water management as the most efficient and sustainable model to address the severe water stress affecting large-scale mining regions in northern Chile.

“Shared water supply systems,” she explains, “have proven to be more efficient and to provide greater security of supply for all stakeholders: they harness economies of scale, reduce capital and operating costs, and minimise the territorial and energy footprint of infrastructure.”

Dr Nathalie Jamett will present on this topic at the ACADES 2026 Congress.
