Together with delegates from JKTech and the Sustainable Minerals Institute, we concluded a fruitful participation in one of the leading regional mining events, which this time took place in the Peruvian city of Arequipa.

Our delegation to the PERUMIN 37 Mining Convention was comprised of Doug Aitken, Francisca Rivero, Nathalie Jamett, Mark Noppé, and Percy Madrid, who maintained a busy schedule of presentations and meetings with partners and industry representatives, opening up new opportunities for collaboration in Perú.

Doug Aitken and Nathalie Jamett presented on new trends in metallurgical processes for more sustainable mining and greater long-term land value. They detailed the variety of capabilities and solutions offered by our Center, in partnership with the Sustainable Minerals Institute, on topics such as automation, biomining, coarse particle flotation, AI, and acid drainage prevention.

“We wanted to highlight the central role of innovation in mining, but also the importance of integrating the use of new technologies at the operational level to, for example, incorporate social and environmental benefits,” explains Doug Aitken.

The SMI-ICE-Chile team, JKTech Pty Ltd, and the Sustainable Minerals Institute also held meetings with key partners, such as the Australian Embassy in Peru, Trade and Investment Queensland, leading Peruvian universities, and mining companies such as Río Tinto, Compañía de Minas Buenaventura, Nexa Resources, Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde, Southern Peaks Mining, and Enaex, among others.
