Line of Research: Responsible Production and Mine Process Optimisation
Diego holds a degree in Environmental Engineering from the Bolivian Catholic University and a master’s degree in Natural Resources and Global Change from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Biology and Applied Ecology at the University of La Serena.
Over the last decade, he has worked in Chile, Australia, Canada, and Colombia in fields such as mining, salmon farming, climate change, biodiversity conservation, coastal management, and other areas of interest. His work focuses on data analysis and cloud computing, remote sensing, geospatial modeling, and the development of applied neural networks.
Currently, as a researcher at SMI-ICE-Chile, he works on topics related to climate change, macroecology, and Earth observation, focusing on the impacts of climate scenarios on high-mountain operations. He seeks to strengthen preparedness and response to highly complex extreme events using climate simulations and risk scenarios.
